Floor-to-ceiling historic murals inside the Santa Barbara County Courthouse, and one of the most budget-friendly wedding venues in California.

The Mural Room sits inside the Santa Barbara County Courthouse at 1100 Anacapa Street, and it's one of the simplest ways to get married somewhere this beautiful. The room seats up to 100 guests, and reservations come in short time slots that include your setup and exit, so the day moves quickly and the ceremony is the main event.

Because the courthouse is a working public building, the room stays open to visitors: the door stays open, the space can't be roped off, and there's no food, drink, confetti or real petals inside. Soft acoustic music is fine, but there's no amplified sound. There's no officiant provided and no rehearsal time, so plan both ahead.

For photos, the painted walls do most of the work, and the light through the tall windows changes through the day, brighter in the morning and softer and warmer later on. After the ceremony, most couples head out to the courthouse grounds for portraits, where the white stucco, arches and iron details make easy, classic backdrops.
