Huron Substation is a historic Los Angeles landmark that originally served as an electrical substation. The building features a distinct industrial character defined by century-old brick walls, exposed steel beams, and a 45-foot cathedral-like ceiling. A notable detail is the black patina across the brickwork, which remains from a fire the building survived in the 1980s. The interior includes a grand hall with arched windows and concrete flooring, while a mezzanine level provides private suites for dressing and lounging.
You can host your ceremony and reception in both indoor and outdoor spaces. The main hall accommodates large gatherings, but I recommend keeping the guest count to about 60 people unless you plan to use both the indoor and outdoor areas simultaneously. For a seamless flow, many couples choose to use the outdoor courtyard for dining before moving inside for dancing. The venue includes a residential kitchen, a house sound system, an upright piano, and is accessible for food trucks.
From a photography perspective, the industrial architecture provides excellent light and a variety of textures for portraits. I enjoy the different spots available within the building for capturing shots. Because parking at the venue is sparse and lacks dedicated spaces, you should coordinate your guests' arrival ahead of time. I have found this to be a wonderful spot to work and would love to capture your day here.
