It was a joyous occasion when Shea and Shane finally tied the knot after overcoming the challenges brought on by the pandemic. Shea’s wedding day preparations began at her grandmother’s home on the Riviera in Santa Barbara, a warm and inviting Spanish-style home with lush greenery everywhere. Shea’s grandmother, who is in her 90s, welcomed me warmly and even offered me a sandwich as soon as I arrived. It was a touching gesture and a testament to how hospitable and gracious the family is.
As I walked through the doors, I was struck by the beauty of the home’s interior. The soft, natural light streaming in through the windows highlighted the warmth of the wood and the rich, vibrant colors of the rugs and furnishings. The getting-ready activities were a blur of excitement and energy as the bride and her bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done by the extremely talented Marla Nyamdorj. Shea’s laid-back personality was reflected in her choice to wear red cowgirl boots on her wedding day, adding a playful touch to her bridal ensemble.
The day was filled with so much love and attention to detail, from the gorgeous floral arrangements by PacWest Blooms & Events to the sentimental venue choice at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara. Shea’s parents had been married there over 30 years prior, making it a nostalgic and meaningful location for the couple’s own nuptials. Even with the challenges of the pandemic, Shea & Shane managed to create a beautiful, memorable day that will stay with them and their loved ones for years to come.
The ceremony and reception were both held on a foggy October afternoon, providing the perfect backdrop for the romantic and intimate setting. The venue was accented with a beautiful combination of muted and bright floral tones that perfectly complemented the overall aesthetic of the day. The evening was filled with laughter and tears as friends and family shared stories and memories of the couple, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel included.
As the night progressed, the energy remained high, with guests dancing the night away and the couple sneaking off for a light painting session in a corner of the dance floor. It was a magical and unforgettable day, made even more special by the resilience and determination of the bride and groom in the face of adversity. I am so grateful to have been a part of it and to have captured the beauty and love of Shea & Shane’s wedding day.
