Sarah & Michael’s Stunning Carpinteria Wedding

Sarah & Michael

As a wedding photographer, I have the privilege of capturing some of life’s most precious moments. Today, I want to share with you the story of Sarah and Michael, a couple whose love and laughter shone brighter than the California sun on their wedding day.

Nestled in the picturesque foothills of Carpinteria, a Spanish-style home provided the perfect setting for the bride and groom to prepare for their big day. With sweeping views of Santa Barbara and the ocean, Sarah was pampered by the talented team at La Rouge Hair & Makeup and 805 Makeup, while wearing a stunning Made with Love Bridal gown from The Dress Bride. The bridesmaids, all smiles, helped Sarah into her dress and heels, creating a memory that will last a lifetime.

As anticipation grew, Michael’s mom entered the room, her eyes welling with tears at the sight of her soon-to-be daughter-in-law. It was a touching moment that I was honored to capture.

Before the ceremony, the couple planned a first look session. But little did Michael know, one of his groomsmen had a surprise up his sleeve! Dressed in a wedding gown purchased from Amazon, he took Sarah’s place, eliciting laughter and breaking the tension. As a joke, Michael and his groomsman shared a quick kiss for the camera.

The couple then had their ‘real’ first look, and Michael’s awe-struck expression upon seeing Sarah was absolutely priceless.

In a nod to Michael’s Jewish heritage, the couple exchanged vows under the chuppah in a heartfelt ceremony on the edge of a hill overlooking the breathtaking Carpinteria landscape and ocean. It was a picture-perfect backdrop for a truly beautiful moment.

The newlyweds’ grand entrance led to their first dance, as “6’s to 9’s” by Big Wild filled the air. The dance floor soon erupted into a flash mob, with the entire bridal party moving in sync—a testament to Sarah and Michael’s shared love for dancing and the very thing that brought them together.

As the sun shone brightly on their wedding day, Sarah’s father revealed an old Southern good luck charm he had buried a month earlier—a bottle of bourbon buried upside-down, meant to ward off rain and ensure good weather. The tradition came to life during the reception, as guests enjoyed the dug-up bottle amidst laughter, speeches, and more dancing.

In a delightful surprise, the DJ who played the night Sarah and Michael first met, ‘Dances With White Girls,’ made an appearance and performed a set for the ecstatic crowd. It was the perfect way to bring their love story full circle.

This wedding was a true celebration of love, laughter, and the connections that make life worth living. As a photographer, I am grateful for the opportunity to capture the magic of Sarah and Michael’s love story and wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
